Hey Fine Fettle Fam, welcome to issue four of the Fettle Flier! I hope you spent your holidays celebrating with friends and family and are as excited for the new year as I am. You were in the spirit of giving this holiday season, and I’m happy to report that the toy drive at Fine Fettle Willimantic contributed to a community effort that brought joy to over 1,000 children in our community! Over at Fine Fettle Newington, the food and toiletry drive helped to benefit over 400 local families!
For this issue, I sat down with my partner/boss/friend Debbie, the fearless leader and dispensary manager at Fine Fettle Willimantic for a Q&A about the medical marijuana industry. As always, we’ll wrap up with a product showcase featuring new and returning products from our growers.
Q&A: Debbie, Dispensary Manager – Fine Fettle Willimantic
Where did you go to school? When did you graduate?
“I went to the University of Connecticut for my undergraduate degree and then graduated from the University of Saint Joseph School of Pharmacy in 2011. I’m proud to call Connecticut home.”
How are pharmacists a valuable resource for CT MMP patients?
“Where do I start? First and foremost, we can help with product selection. There are times when a product sells out and we can always help you look at the products currently available to find something comparable and that aligns with your goals. We can also help to demystify accessories, provide terpene education and can even break down the program’s rules and regulations. I know there are patients out there who know exactly what works for them, and that’s awesome, but to those who are still navigating the program and still on the search for relief, I’m here for you.”
What’s the biggest misconception about the medical marijuana industry?
“I think there are many misconceptions about the industry but the one that I hear most often is that patients must smoke in order to find relief. Thankfully, the industry has made incredible strides. If patients want to smoke, they have plenty of options to do so, but if they don’t, they can find another dosage form that’s right for them. Patients in need of medical marijuana are not one size fits all and I think that producers understand that. We’re seeing more and more innovative products so that everyone in the program can find something to provide them with the relief they’re looking for.”
What’s one thing about the CT medical marijuana program or cannabis industry in general that you wish you could change? How would you change it?
“I wish that patients weren’t limited to using one dispensary at a time. I think patients should have freedom of choice year-round. Patients need greater access to medication. Here at Fine Fettle, we upload purchase information to the state in real-time and if all dispensaries had that capability, then the state might reconsider the one dispensary rule.”
What makes Fine Fettle different from other Connecticut dispensaries?
“We are so focused on you. I know how awesome it feels to go into an establishment where people put you first and that is exactly what we do here. We get to know you, from your goals to your likes and dislikes. I think from the awesome reviews we see online that patients are really loving what we’re doing and I’m really proud of what we’ve built.”
